Assignment/Summative Assessment:
World War I created change. WWI created changes in global politics, military strategy, military technology, social attitudes, the creation of new states, etc.
Your assessment is to create a research question regarding changes brought about by World War I. Your research question should focus on a change of a specific element of World War I. To help with the creation of the research question you will need evidence and information. Evidence and investigation for your research question should be conducted prior to the formulation of your research question.
STEP 1: Preliminary Research [Brainstorm prime topics that would exemplify change during World War I.]
Before you create a draft of your research question, you should gather evidence and information from secondary sources and primary sources if possible. Start investigating and researching a broad topic, a topic of interest, something you want to know more about.
STEP 2: Preliminary Research Questions [Establish a research question based on this topic.]
Using the information and evidence you have gathered and collected from your preliminary research of a broad topic, create a draft of your research question. With the information and evidence that you have collected, what question could you answer?
STEP 3: Research [Find one article/source, secondary or primary on this topic. What did you find out?]
Now that you have a draft of your research question, investigate and research more information to answer your research question in full. Because you have a more focused and clear research question, you now have a goal, an objective, a focused question that you are trying to answer.
STEP 4: Final Research Question [Narrow your topic.]
After your secondary research you should make minor edits to your research question to ensure that it is both clear and focused. You should now know how and where to find information and evidence to answer your research question.
